Terms of Use

Last updated: July 7, 2026

The short version. You can use Jourvelope for free to keep a private video journal. Your recordings are yours — they stay on your device and we never touch them. Use the app respectfully, and don't expect us to be liable for how you decide to use it.

1. Acceptance

By installing or using Jourvelope (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

2. License to use the App

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control. You may use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

3. Your content is yours

Anything you record or write inside the App — your videos, goal titles, descriptions, streak data — is entirely yours. Because the App stores everything locally on your device, we never receive it, view it, or have any rights to it.

We claim no ownership over your content, and we never grant ourselves a license to use it.

4. Your responsibilities

When using Jourvelope, you agree to:

5. Camera and microphone use

The App only accesses your camera and microphone while you are actively using the record screen. It does not record in the background. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

6. Availability

We may release updates, add or remove features, or discontinue the App at any time. Because your data is on your device, ending the App does not affect the files already saved locally — you can still access them through your device's file manager if needed.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that recordings will be preserved indefinitely.

Because Jourvelope stores everything locally, we cannot recover your data if it is lost due to device failure, uninstallation, storage clearing, or any other reason. Please back up anything you consider irreplaceable.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including lost recordings, lost data, or lost profits — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim. Since Jourvelope is free, that amount is zero.

9. Prohibited use

You may not reverse-engineer, modify, resell, sublicense, or attempt to extract source code from the App, except where such rights cannot be waived under applicable law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
